The answer could look very easy, yet the hate demonstrated among the major political parties at times suggest that democracy means dominion of one.
There is no reason to hate one another because SA has multiparty governance. Whether any party wins, does not necessarily mean it can rule alone.
Some of the hate speech across the parties have a bad effect on the voters of all the parties once the elections are over.
It is one thing to disagree and the worse thing to hate one other, especially if you are likely to serve on the same council.
Some will go to the extent of causing the municipality to dysfunction by sabotaging everything that is to take the municipality forward in the name of revenge.
The lesson from this is that the election battles must not be escalated to personal vendetta. The real campaign period must begin immediately after the elections. This is where each party, irrespective of the size, has more time to demonstrate leadership skills to the electorates.
